Born in Jackson, Tennessee, and living throughout the Southeast United States, he considers Georgia his home and now resides in Acworth, Georgia. The Impressionists and Post Impressionists are held responsible for stimulating Brian’s artist within and need to explore the visual arts in his youth.
Brian first attended Valdosta State University, Valdosta in GA., where he first pursued a B.F.A (1997 – 1999). He felt his life experience was lacking in his convictions as an artist and chose to put his education on hold to go out into the world and experience life. After working several jobs that expanded on his skills and curiosities, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in early 2007. During his enlistment, he served as a combat correspondent in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. After proudly serving four years active duty and an Honorable Discharge, he turned back to his education with resolve.
Brian D. Jones currently pursues a B.F.A. at Kennesaw State University’s School of Art and Design, in Kennesaw, GA., with a concentration in sculpture. Both his sculptures and paintings focus on exploring realism, impressionism, abstract expressionism, and minimalism. He is an active member of the Sculpture Club and is educationally inspired by the artistic intuition of others around him, global issues, environmental, social, and political sciences. Brian plans to apply his education and acquired skills as an emerging artist in juried exhibitions, secure gallery representation, and pursue freelance work.
